Over 700,000 people are in Australia on a student visa and more than half want to stay

Sky News host Peta Credlin discusses the findings about international students from a government report by ‘Jobs and Skills Australia’.

The government’s own report states more than half of international students remain in Australia permanently once they graduate.

“There are currently just over 700,000 people in Australia on student visas and just over 200,000 former students here as temporary graduate workers,”
Ms Credlin said.

“Let me say that again, more than half of the people we let into the country to study never return home.”
